Frequently Asked Questions about the pilot project using the ASHYQ application

Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, businesses around the world have been forced to operate with significant restrictions, which is causing significant damage to business income. This also applies to our country. More than 13 thousand business entities (bowling, billiard, karaoke, computer clubs, etc.) still cannot resume their activities. The reason is that the accumulation of people who spend a long time in a confined space carries an increased risk of spreading the virus. There are also a number of facilities that are forced to close on weekends or limit opening hours when the region moves into the yellow or red zone.

As an alternative to the complete closure of the above businesses and for the partial removal of restrictions, the Ashyq pilot project was launched. The project office (ICRIAP, MZRK and NCE Atameken) continues to answer the most frequently asked questions.

What will it give the population?

Safety. Today, every person who falls ill with COVID-19 in any form (symptomatic or asymptomatic) undertakes to comply with the home quarantine regime and certifies them with a personal signature on the receipt. However, we often encounter facts of violation of the self-isolation regime. Sick or close contacts visit public places, thus creating a threat of the spread of the virus.

The application allows you to identify such visitors and prevent infection of other guests or staff.

How it works?

By integrating the mobile application with the general database of the Ministry of Health, the status of the visitor is determined: whether he is currently a carrier of the virus or not. That is, the business entity participating in the project provides additional control to the already taken sanitary measures (masks, thermometry, ventilation, etc.). Since the risks of infection for guests and staff are significantly reduced, the project will eventually optimize quarantine restrictions for businesses and the public.

Who is the developer of this mobile application?

The Ashyq mobile application was developed by a domestic IT company commissioned by the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Who is assigned a QR code - a business entity or a visitor?

The QR code is assigned only to business entities.

Will this system restrict people's free movement?

Today, there are sanitary restrictions on the operation of certain types of activities (bowling, billiards, karaoke, computer clubs, etc.). They've been out of business for almost a year now. There are also a number of facilities (for example, fitness clubs) whose activities are limited on weekends if the region goes into the red zone.

The Ashyq application, by creating conditions for safer activities, on the contrary, in the future will create conditions for reducing quarantine restrictions and simplifying the movement of citizens.

Why is the current practice of non-contact thermometry not enough?

Thermometry helps to identify one of the most striking symptoms of Covid-19 (fever). The use of this application is an additional guarantee of safety for visitors and staff.

Will the use of the application be mandatory for everyone?

Neither entrepreneurs nor citizens will be forced to use the application without fail.

From January 17 of this year. in test mode, the Ashyq mobile application uses a number of fitness clubs, spa centers, saunas and other facilities where there is a reception. Being in the pilot is voluntary.

Can other businesses besides fitness centers and spas use this app?

Of course, since this will primarily ensure the safety of visitors and staff. At will.

Algorithms for the participation of different types of businesses in the project will be agreed with the business community and sanitary doctors. At the same time, it is not planned to force the use of the application in the mall, markets, convenience stores and public transport, as some commentators write on social networks.

How difficult and time consuming is it?

1. The visitor needs to download the mobile application "Ashyq" on his phone, log in by phone number, enter the IIN (1 time. Better in advance);

2. When entering the establishment, you must scan the establishment's QR code to register your visit. The screen will display the status (blue, green, red or yellow).

3. When exiting - you need to scan the QR code to fix your exit.

Will the system create restrictions for people who do not have smartphones?

If the visitor does not have a smartphone or if there are difficulties when downloading this mobile application, the responsible employee of the institution will be given a role in the application, with which he will be able to record the visitor's entry by entering his IIN.

What does the status color mean?

Green status - the visitor is identified in the database as having passed the PCR test with a negative result for Covid-19;

Blue status - no PCR test results, not listed as a contact;

Yellow status - marked in the database as a contact;

Red status - registered in the database with a positive result for Covid-19.

Do I need to take a PCR test before each site visit?

No, you do not need to take a test before each visit.

How long does the status last?

All statuses are temporary. Green - 3 days. That is, exactly as much as the PCR certificate is valid.

"Red" or "yellow" - are removed immediately after a negative PCR test result and the end of the isolation regime for a sick or close contact person.

Is this project related to the start of mass vaccination in the country?

This project has nothing to do with vaccination against CVI.

Will this project take into account those who have other infections (ARVI, influenza, etc.)?

This project has nothing to do with other infectious diseases.

Is it mandatory to install a QR code for the mall, pharmacies, convenience store?

No, the installation of the application for these objects was not provided by the project office, except in cases where the business entity wants to install voluntarily.

Why scan a QR code when leaving an establishment?

To control the operation of the institution. The application allows you to analyze (impersonally) the number of visitors at the same time in the institution and its opening hours. Thus, the need for monitoring checks is potentially reduced.

Where in the world has such a practice already been introduced?

To date, the practice of using QR codes has proven itself well in the countries of Southeast Asia - Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia. There are analogues in other countries.

Where is the IIN data transferred?

The data is not transferred anywhere and remains in the application profile. According to the entered data, the user's status is checked when scanning the QR code.

Will an official account be created for the pilot project, where all the necessary information will be covered?

Now the technical support service is launched in telegrams @support_ashyq_bot. Connection of other channels is considered in case of replication of the application.
